Carol Boyne-Lynch B.A., M.Phil.

Carol is the Managing Director of Crannagh & Co. Crannagh & Co. is a boutique firm specialising in customs and trade advice for International Companies importing into and exporting out of Europe. Crannagh was established by Carol and Michelle Lynch in 2006 to service a gap in the market for specialised professional firms providing expert services to International Companies at a competitive price.

Carol heads up the Customs Consulting and Compliance section of Crannagh. Carol has over twenty year’s experience working with International Companies in the area of Customs, Excise and International Trade. Prior to Crannagh Carol was Head of  KPMG Ireland’s  Trade and Customs Practice as well as Vice-Chairman of KPMG’s European Trade. Prior to KPMG Carol worked for over 8 years as a Manager in Customs and Trade in PWC’s European Customs and Trade Practice.

 She is a well-known and established expert in Customs & Trade taxes and, in this capacity, has been a guest speaker and advisor for a number of key industry bodies, both speaking in Europe and the US. She most recently presented at the ICPA’s inaugural European conference in Amsterdam addressing the conference on the status of AEO in Europe.   

Carol has extensive expertise in the area of AEO and compliance and has worked with the Authorities on behalf of many clients since its introduction. She was the only consultant to participate in the EU’s pilot programme for the introduction of AEO in the E.U., working with both HMRC and the European Commission.  

She lists among her clients many of the Fortune 500 companies based in the US, Ireland and the UK.  Carol is currently a member of the Institute of Tax and also sits on the Revenue’s Customs Consultative Committee on behalf of the Chambers of Commerce.

Carol holds an honours B.A. from Trinity College Dublin as well as a Masters from Cambridge University. She is a qualified Mediator with the Mediation Institute of Ireland and holds a Diploma in Executive Coaching and Training. She also holds a certificate from the Irish Management Institute (IMI) professional mini-MBA programme.

 
   

Michelle Lynch B.L., B.C.L.

Michelle established Crannagh & Co., along with Carol, in 2006 and heads up their Export Compliance and Supply Chain Security section.

 Michelle is one of Ireland’s leading experts on the issue of export compliancy, providing advice on EU export issues to a wide range of customers throughout the European Union and beyond.

Her clients include many of the world’s top IT, hi-tech engineering and medical device companies. Michelle has also led numerous national level training courses in conjunction with the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment dealing with Export Licensing. She has also a close working relationship with the UK’s Department of Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. As part of her focus on export compliance, security and embargoes Michelle also specializes in Global Supply Chain security from the perspective of AEO, C-TPAT and the WCO SAFE programme. In this regard Michelle has successfully supported many International Companies in achieving AEO status and compliance. 

Michelle is a Barrister-at-Law and a former Senior VP of the World Trade Centre, New York and Director of Trade Programmes with the Port Authority New York/New Jersey.

She is also a qualified mediator with ADR UK.   

Michelle has over 20 year’s experience working in the area of US-Irish Business and Trade Law and project management. She also works with many International Companies in the area of trade representation and lobbying.

 

 

Michael Cannell

Michael is a Director of Customs Compliance for Crannagh & Co. and based in Ireland.

 In his role Michael is responsible for the project management of outsourced customs compliance programmes for companies on a European and Global basis, along with the development of best practices and implementation of customs compliance programmes.

Prior to joining Crannagh & Co. Michael was the Director - Global Solutions for Integration Point, Inc. the Global Trade Management software company.  In this role he was responsible for market development, primarily in Europe, as well as strategic global partner and client management for complex multi-national operations. 

Prior to Integration Point, Mr. Cannell held the position of Director of Global Trade Compliance for Kravet, Inc. where he was responsible for all aspects of trade compliance and supply chain security.   

Before joining Kravet, Michael worked as a manager in the trade and customs practice of KPMG LLP where he focused on the areas of global supply chain, Foreign-Trade Zones, customs valuation, import/export process management, trade technology solutions, duty refunds and tax/tariff reductions, customs audits, regulatory compliance, penalty issues and supply chain security. In industry prior to entering the consulting world, Michael worked for a specialty chemical manufacturing company holding manufacturing, quality, logistics and compliance roles.

Michael is a member of the ICPA and co-Chair of the ICPA’s European conference planning committee as well as the Marine for Life mentoring program.  He has been a regular panellist and speaker at events concerning international trade and authored articles on supply chain security, trade related economic development, off hours port operations, tax efficient supply chain management, the role of compliance in global sourcing, the "24 hour rule" and similar subjects.

 Michael is also the goodwill Ambassador to Ireland and the United Kingdom for the ICPA.  The International Compliance Professional’s Association, with over 2,000 members, is the only association for Customs and international trade professionals with a global reach. 

Michael is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and attended the University of California at Irvine where his major was environmental (chemical) engineering.

 

 

Martin Agnew B.A.

Martin is a Customs Manager with Crannagh.  

Martin was formerly a Customs Officer with the UK Revenue (HMRC) Large Business Services and in this capacity has over seven year’s experience in Customs.  In this position Martin worked on a range of EU and National taxes, duties and customs issues affecting UK companies. 

As an AEO auditor he has worked closely with some of the UK’s most complex multi-national companies business to ensure they had the systems in place to become AEO certified. 

Martin is currently a member of the Institute of Indirect Taxation and also holds a HMRC International Trade, Legal and Technical Diploma along with an International Trade BTEC and is VAT trained.

Martin is also trained by HMRC as a Large Business Service I.T. Systems Facilitator along with being a Microsoft Certified Engineer.

 

 

Lorna Guckian

Lorna is a SeniorConsultant with Crannagh & Co since 2006 and has over seven year’s experience in Customs and Excise.

As part of Crannagh Lorna also specialises in Customs and Trade Compliance and advises clients on import/export requirements, procedures and the standards required to minimise risk and exposure. In this regard Lorna has extensive experience working with companies in audit preparation and reviews, export licensing and compliance and AEO assessments.

As part of this role Lorna is also an expert in customs classification and advises many International Companies with regard to the optimum customs classification and implementation of best practice procedures across complex business environments.

Prior to working with Crannagh Lorna was responsible for excise compliance in a large International Company and has extensive expertise in excise procedures, tax warehousing and the movement of excisable goods. She holds as her clients many of the largest companies in Ireland involved in Alcohol and Oil specifically.

Lorna holds an Advanced Certificate in Trade and Customs Practise and Procedures.

Jonathan S. FitzGerald BCL, LLB, LLM, A.C.A., BL


Jonathan has over 10 years experience in International Trade Law. He is a Barrister-at-Law (of King's Inns, Dublin), Attorney-at-Law (Bar of New York), Accredited Commercial Mediator (ADR Group UK) and is also a Chartered Accountant (ICAI) having trained in KPMG. Jonathan is a practising Junior Counsel at the Bar of Ireland.

 

Claire Flynn, ACMA, TMII

Claire is a qualified accountant with over twelve years experience in Financial Control and Management accounting in the manufacturing and shipping industries.

Claire has extensive industry experience and is well versed in systems controls for manufacturing controls. In addition she has particular expertise in the financial and auditing requirements of the shipping and freight industry.
